 Morlaix

This fine old town grew up at the head of a large estuary, becoming a strategic bridging point and an important inland port.

It is the most appealing large town in North Finistère, with plenty to see and lots of good restaurants. It has many superior shopping malls and hypermarkets

It is surprisingly easy to find your way round Morlaix, its imposing railway viaduct bestrides it like a colossus, making an instant landmark, and the old town and port lie immediately at its feet, compact and walkable.

Sights to see are the 15th century church of St-Mélaine, 16th century Maison de la Reine Anne a quaintly carved three-storey ‘lantern house’ the church of St-Mathieu with its square tower, Morlaix’s Musée des Jacobins, with Léon furniture, Breton paintings.
